What does it feel like?
Acupuncture needles are much finer than needles used for injections and blood tests. When the needle is inserted, the sensation is often described as a tingling or dull ache.

BAcC Regulation statement 16 June 2008
The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) welcomes the report out today Monday 16th June from the Department of Health Steering Group on the Regulation of Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The report recommends the statutory regulation of acupuncture through the Health Professions Council as soon as is practicable. This has brought a successful conclusion to a process in which the BAcC has been involved for well over a decade and to which it has made a major contribution.
Latest information on regulation of acupuncture
On 16 June 2008 the Department of Health steering group on the regulation of acupuncture, herbal medicine and traditional Chinese medicine published its long-awaited report in which it recommended the statutory regulation of acupuncture through the Health Professions Council as soon as is practicable.
