Step-by-step guide for external applicants
This guide is for practitioners who wish to apply for Full UK membership and who:
- graduated from a BAAB accredited institution longer than two years ago
- trained in the UK at a non-BAAB accredited institution
- trained overseas and are now resident in the UK.
You make an initial enquiry by filling in our online enquiry form and sending it to BAcC Admissions
We send you an email acknowledgement when we receive your form
Admissions check your form and may contact you to clarify any details you give
If your eligibility for Full UK membership is unclear at this stage, we may ask one of our assessors to review your form
If you are not eligible to apply for membership, we will let you know at this stage
If you are eligible to apply for membership, we will send you an application pack
Your completed application is assessed by one of our assessors, who can recommend one of the following:
1 You are invited to attend an interview in London.
2 You get a practice visit from a facilitator who will observe you treating patients.
Admissions recommends one of the following:
1 An offer of Full UK membership, subject to ratification.
2 An offer of Provisional membership together with a personal development plan (PDP) and notice of how long you have to complete any recommendations made in order to progress to Full UK membership.
3 Your application is rejected.
Provisional membership can be offered to new applicants, or to members who have been out of Full UK membership for longer than two years, who may need additional skills or training in order to become eligible for Full UK membership.
Provisional membership includes insurance to practise. However, Provisional members are not listed in the Register of Members or on the BAcC website practitioner search and are not allowed to advertise as a BAcC member or use the letters MBAcC.
