The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) is the leading self-regulatory body and PSA accredited register for the practice of traditional acupuncture in the UK. We are a member-led organisation with circa 2700 traditional acupuncturist members, governed by a Governing Board. The specialist staff team deliver membership services and support members to maintain professional standards. We provide our members with a wide range of services to facilitate their practice and we also act for the traditional acupuncture profession as a whole.

We are now seeking our next Lay Treasurer. You will be a clear, strategic thinker, interested in the aims of the BAcC and able to demonstrate objectivity and accountability. We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a recognized accounting qualification.

You will attend the Governing Board meetings and you will also be responsible for chairing the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, so experience of chairing meetings is desirable.

We are now seeking two Lay Members to join our Membership Services Committee (MSC) and two Lay Members to join our Professional Standards Committee (PSC).

The MSC reports directly to our elected Governing Board and is responsible for overseeing the development and promotion of membership services for the profession and for the development of external influence including political and lobbying activities, international development and strategic interactions with appropriate external stakeholders.

The PSC is responsible for overseeing the development and promotion of core practice standards for the profession; policy and guidelines concerning safety and professional standards; and the policy, provision and commissioning of education, training, examination, supervision, mentoring, and research.

These are exciting opportunities to be involved in shaping BAcC services and our external influence, to contribute to the effective governance of the organization, and to gain or build upon experience of working as part of a committee.
