Medical Advisor

Job Description

The Medical Advisor provides ad hoc advice and reports for any health declarations made by prospective or existing members of the organisation.

The Professional Conduct Officer provides the information provided by the member/prospective member to the Medical Advisor.  The Medical Advisor may then ask for additional information including patient notes and/or an interview with the member/prospective member.

The Medical Advisor then provides a report for the BAcC advising as to whether the member/prospective member would be able to practice acupuncture safely, given their medical condition.

  • A medical doctor with at least 10 years post qualification experience as a GP. (It is possible that we may consider two posts – one for a GP to deal with general medicine and one for a psychiatrist to deal with mental health and addiction matters.)
  • A trained acupuncturist.

  • A member of the British Acupuncture Council.
  • A practising acupuncturist.

This varies but is approximately 5 to 10 cases per year.

To be discussed.
