BAcC current vacancies

The BAcC is the leading self-regulatory body for the practice of traditional acupuncture in the UK. We are a member-led organisation with just under 3,000 traditional acupuncturist members, governed by a Governing Board. The specialist staff team, working from a small office in West London, deliver membership services and support to maintain professional standards.

The BAcC was one of the first organisations to become a Professional Standards Authority (PSA) Accredited Register. The Accredited Register scheme is designed to recognise that an accredited organisation maintains high standards of training, safe practice and professional conduct where the operational sector is not covered by statutory regulation.

Communications Officer

This is an exciting new role for the BAcC as we celebrate our 25th year. The post-holder will bring together our communications activity from across the organisation, taking responsibility for developing our communications plan and content calendar. They will be a skilled and engaging communicator able to produce communications for a range of audiences and through a variety of media. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a communications role, ideally within a healthcare or membership organisation. They will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with members, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Membership Manager

The Membership Manager is responsible for services to our members throughout the membership lifecycle, from overseeing the admissions processes which enable traditional acupuncturists to access membership, increasing student engagement and managing relationships with colleges, to ensuring that all current members receive a high-quality service and membership offering. They are the first and main point of contact for our members.

They line manage the Membership Database Officer to ensure that member data is accurately recorded, maintained and analysed.

You will have experience of leading a membership team, ideally within a professional membership body and you will have experience of dealing with health professionals and students. You will also have excellent database skills and the ability to interrogate data for key insights. We are looking for someone to bring their skills and experience in order build upon our membership offering, who is passionate about putting members at the heart of everything we do. You will have an understanding of and interest in acupuncture, and will support it as a valid healthcare choice.

Learning and Events Manager

This is a newly created role following an organisational restructure, and brings together responsibility for our conferences, events, regional groups and learning activities.

Our annual British Conference of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is the largest UK acupuncture conference and has an excellent reputation. As like many organisations, we envisage that our conferences and events will need to be done differently for at least the next 12 to 24 months. We are therefore looking for someone who has experience of running both in-person events and conferences, as well as virtual conferences, online learning and webinars. You will bring your experience and fresh ideas to help us do things differently and to ensure that our members and the wider community can remain connected through a range of workshops, events, discussion forums and sessions. You will work with a committee to choose the annual conference topics, speakers and themes, and you will be responsible for delivering the range of other events run by the BAcC (including the annual ARRC symposium, CPD events, and supporting the activities of our regional groups).

You will have proven experience of managing large events and conferences, with excellent organisational and project management skills. You will be proficient at engaging with suppliers and sponsors, and at building relationships with a range of stakeholders. You will have excellent IT skills and be comfortable using a range of digital platforms. You will have a strong understanding of learning and professional development and you will be enthused by engaging with and strengthening our regional networks. You will have an understanding of and interest in acupuncture, and will support it as a valid healthcare choice.
