Find an acupuncturist...

To the point

This 30-minute documentary highlights the growing body of scientific evidence that acupuncture is an effective treatment for a variety of health conditions.

The film includes interviews with Professor Hugh MacPherson, from the University of York, who has conducted high-level research into the use of acupuncture to treat pain, depression and IBS.

Acupuncturist Beverley de Valois and consultant oncologists, Dr Rob Glynne-Jones and Dr Richard Ashford, are also featured discussing the research they have conducted at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, into acupuncture as an effective treatment for the side effects of cancer treatment.

The film also features interviews with:

  • Dr Sanjay Gupta, a consultant cardiologist in York, who is collaborating with the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCS), on a clinical trial to show the effectiveness of acupuncture in patients with atrial fibrillation.
  • Rachel Peckham, director of NADA GB, who set up a weekly ear acupuncture clinic at El Manaar mosque to help survivors of the Grenfell Fire disaster deal with the tragedy.
  • Rebecca Avern, author of the textbook Acupuncture for Babies, Children and Teenagers, who is shown treating children in her clinic.
  • Rebecca Geanty, who founded a multibed clinic in Norwich, to help bridge the gap between the NHS and the private sector by making treatment more affordable.
  • Libby Temperley-Shell, who volunteers at the Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital, which provides complementary therapies to cancer patients.
